Final Weekend: Busytown

Busytown is always buzzing with activity. But what do people do all day? That's where Huckle comes in - he'll take us on a tour of his great neighborhood. And there is so much to see and do, so many wonderful friends to visit. Huckle shows us how Farmer Pig and Grocer Cat work together to bring food to town. Construction Worker and his crew build new houses, and Firechief and the gang keep them safe. Isn't it wonderful how everyone works together to keep Busytown busy?

Auditions Coming Soon!

Crowns: A Gospel Musical            by Regina Taylor

Crowns is considered by many to be one of the most important new plays of the African American community. Inspired by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry's book Crowns, Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats, Taylor's musical tells the story of a young Brooklyn woman sent to live with her grandmother in South Carolina after her brother's murder. Surrounded by her churchgoing grandmother and four aunts - all of whom wear elaborate hats, or "crowns," to church - the tough-talking city girl has a slow but real spiritual awakening, aided by the poetry and stylistically varied songs her relatives share.

Fort Bend Theatre is pleased to offer this musical to play coinciding with Black History Month, and is looking forward to casting the show as written, with all African American adult actors, consisting of one man and 6 women (no children). However, our intended director has moved out of state, and we are currently seeking someone with her talents and sensibilities. Therefore the audition will be delayed and will be TBA at this time.

Thank you for your understanding. Please check back next week for the new audition date and times.
